Six Months of Homeschooling My 4-Year-Old – Our Progress & Wins! 🎉
Hey Mama,
It’s been six months since I started homeschooling my 4-year-old, and the progress he’s made has been nothing short of inspiring! Watching him grow in confidence and curiosity has been the most rewarding part of this journey. Here’s a quick update on our goals and how things are going:
📖 Reading Progress
Right now, he’s working on mastering sounding out words perfectly, but he’s still a little hesitant when it comes to reading those same words in books. I’d love any tips from fellow homeschool moms on how to gently build his confidence—send me your best strategies!
➕ Basic Math Breakthroughs
Math manipulatives have been a game-changer! He’s even started memorizing a few equations. A big moment? While splitting a Kit Kat at the store, he confidently answered “2+2 is 4” before I even finished my sentence! Moments like this remind me just how much he’s absorbing through everyday life.
✍🏽 Writing Milestones
He’s now writing his first name every single day—on his own! He’s also practicing numbers and letters regularly, and it’s amazing to see his handwriting improve bit by bit.
Bonus Subjects from Our Co-Op 🎒
Since joining our homeschool co-op, he’s been learning:
🌍 Geography – He can point out where we live, where his grandparents are, and even where I was born!
💛 Emotional Vocabulary – Learning to express feelings beyond just “happy” and “sad.”
🎯 Focus & Excitement – He’s showing more interest in new topics and is eager to learn every day!
I can’t believe how many subjects we’ve covered in such a short time—it’s a reminder of how natural and exciting learning can be when we follow our kids’ interests. This journey has shown me that homeschooling isn’t just about academics—it’s about nurturing a lifelong love of learning.
Mamas, what’s something your little one has surprised you with lately? Hit reply and let me know!
With grace and grit,
Imani 💛📚
